CHALICE OF BINAH
Darkness, Black Night, Silent Sea.
All that I was is now dead.
Is this the quietude of the crypt and the tomb?
Nay, this chalice is only the resting place of I Am Not
where it waits to be bourn from the womb.
While the magickal tool for Binah is the yoni, I chose the representation of a chalice, a traditional female symbol in many religions because of its ability to hold water, as in the woman being a vessel or also the reference to the womb as a sacred vessel. The Chalice of Binah is constructed from sterling silver, ebony, and red jasper. The chalice sits upon a base cut to resemble the traditional Hindu lotus designs, another female correspondence within Binah. Ebony was chosen for its color correspondence, the Queen Scale in that black has the faculty of absorbing all colors and the black of night which alludes to sleep and understanding. The red jasper corresponds to the crimson red represented by menstrual blood.
